Liposuction targets areas such as the abdomen (“ love handles”), thighs(“saddle-bags”), legs, buttocks, upper arms, breast/chest, chin and jaw line. The purpose is to reshape and remove unwanted fat, not reduce overall body weight.Tumescent liposuction is a safest and most effective procedure for the removal of excess and unwanted fat with the quickest recovery time. The technique utilizes local anesthesia and can be done in an office facility. The areas of excess fat are infiltrated with a solution containing normal saline, dilute lidocaine ( a local anesthetic ), dilute sodium bicarbonate ( minimizes discomfort ), and dilute epinephrine ( shrinks capillaries and prevents blood loss ) until it is engorged with fluid i.e.tumesed. This provides local anesthesia and maximizes fat extraction with minimal or no bruising and discomfort during and after the procedure. Then very small diameter cannulas no bigger than a cocktail straw are used to remove the fat with low-pressure suction. Liposuction is permanent and visible immediately, and the area will continue to shrink for twelve to twenty four weeks. The process is similar to putting a straw in a glass of water and sucking out the water as oppose to putting that same glass of water in the sun and allowing it to evaporate which is a slow process similar to dieting and exercise alone.
